Two women that I love and respect in the entertainment field (2)

2- Joan Jett

       Joan Jett is my favorite Rock star and she is the one that I wish to see in a concert the most. I always thought of rock and roll as a nonsense noise, stupid people, drugs and devil worshipers but Joan Jett was the one that made me change this idea because of her talent and actions. Joan Jett is the perfect example about a person who really knows what he wants in his life. She always wanted to enjoy music and just music and that’s why music was the only thing she worked for in life. I respect her for several reasons. First, because she is considered the Queen of rock and roll and she is in my opinion the only female in the world who can really play and sing rock from the heart. Second, because she is not the kind of person who will change his style to please people. For example, In the 1980s recording companies asked her to change her style to get a record deal. By changing her style they meant stop playing the electric guitar that she described as part of her, to dress like a “lady” and to get plastic surgery to implant breasts!!!!. After 23 rejection her response was to start her own label which she became by it one of the first female musicians to start own her own label.   

       Joan Jett started her journey as a Rock and Roll star in 1975. She and the female Drummer Sandy West were the founding members of the First all girl rock band The Runaways. She played in this band on the rhythm guitar for 2 years and was the lead singer for 3 years and after that the band split up. Playing in The Runaways was never easy because the people at that time couldn’t accept that teenage girls could have the talent to play proper rock and roll. They got a lot of criticism and never got acceptance in the U.S unlike other countries like Japan who treated them with respect and considered them as a rock stars that are fit to even be bigger than the Beatles.

        After The Runaways split up she met a man called Kenny Laguna who was the only one who believed in her and her talent and helped her to from her second and current band “Joan Jett and The Blackhearts”. She recorded a demo tape and sent it to 23 recording company and was rejected from all of them. The interesting part is that Joan Jett didn’t just give up, but she decided to start her own label and so she produced her album on her own. That was in 1981 when she got her first well known Hit “I Love Rock N’ Roll”. I love rock and roll was one of the songs that were rejected by the recording companies and it became number 1 hit on the bill board for 7 weeks. All of the songs that were in the rejected demo tape became also hits. She played a lot of sold out concerts and finally gained the respect she didn’t get when she was a member of The Runaways. To maintain this success and her vocal cords she stopped using drugs and drinking since she was 20 and became vegan after 10 years. She is 53 years now and believe it or not she is still playing and still as beautiful as she was in her 20s. In 2010 she was portrayed by the young actress Kristen Stewart in the movie The Runaways which talked about her first band. 

in this ironic interview you could easily know what I mean by "a person who really know what he wants" because every single thing she said in this interview 30 years ago she did it

لان من اهم ما اريد تحقيقه من هذه المدونة هو تحقيق التنوع والكتابة عن الاشياء التي تهمني ، احببت ان اشارككم بهذه الصفحة من مذكراتي .....

في يوم الاربعاء الموافق ‏7‏/4‏/2010 حضرت محاضرة بعنوان تجربتي مع التوحد القاها احد اولياء الامور الذي لديه طفلة تعاني من هذا المرض وهو السيد احمد الانصاري ، في الحقيقة ان كل ما لفت نظري في هذه المحاضرة التي القاها السيد احمد الانصاري – وهو شخص عادي وليس طبيب او متخصص في علاج هذا المرض – مدى ثقافته واضطلاعه بشأن المرض الذي تعاني منه ابنته ، حيث انه يعرف الاسم العلمي لمرض ابنته وهو الامر الذي لا يفعله كثير من اولياء الامور الذين حتى لا يعرفون اسم المرض باللغة العربية اصلا ويكتفون بقول " اصاب ابنتي مرض يجعلها تفعل كذا ويسبب لها كذا " وهذا الامر فعلا يشكل معضلة في مجتمعاتنا العربية – كما ذكر الكثير من الاطباء العرب – على عكس المجتمعات الغربية التي تهتم بتعريف اولياء الامور بأسماء الامراض التي تصيب اطفالهم ومسبباتها ولا تكتفي فقط بوصف العلاج للطفل واهله وصرفه الا بيته ، اما الشيء الاخر الذي اعجبني اكثر في شخصية السيد احمد الانصاري انه لم يستسلم عندما اخبره الاطباء ان مرض التوحد المصابة به ابنته لا يوجد له علاج  بل كما اوضح لنا في محاضرته انه سعى في كل الاتجاهات وفي الكثير من البلدان وبحث على شبكة الانترنت وفي المواقع العالمية ليجد اي علاج يساعد ابنته او حتى يخفف الاعراض التي تشعربها وتجعلها تندمج مع المجتمع المحيط بها فجرب عدة ادوية منها ما فشل ومنها ما نجح ، ولم يكتفي بهذا القدر من الاهتمام الذي يوليه لابنته بل انه زود نفسه بجميع المعلومات المتعلقة بمرض التوحد والمرحلة التي وصلت اليها ابنته فاطمة وتواصل مع اطبائها ومدربيها في مركز الشفلح واقام معهم علاقات طيبة وحضر جماعات المساندة النفسية للاهالي الذين يشاركونه وجود افراد بينهم يعانون نفس هذا المرض الذي تعاني منه ابنته ولازال يحاول بشتى الوسائل الحفاظ مستوى حياة افضل لابنته وحمايتها من الاخطار التي ممكن ان تتعرض لها كمريضة عقلية .

الحقيقة ان السيد احمد الانصاري يمثل مثال نادر لأولياء الامور المهتمين الذين يكرسون حياتهم لاطفالهم مهما كانوا سواء اصحاء او مرضى وهذا الامر جعلني اشعر بالسعادة لهذه الطفلة واتمنى ان يتعلم جميع الاباء من هذا النموذج الطيب للاب المثقف الواعي الذي يبذل قصارى جهده للعناية باطفاله ولا يرمي بهذه المسؤولية وراء ظهره او يكتفي بتوكيلها للام وحدها .

1.  Jodie Foster

       Jodie Foster is an Actress that I love and respect for several reasons. First, because she is an outstanding actress that you can just go to see any of her movies without knowing anything about it and I assure you that you won’t waste your money or your time. She became an actress at the age of three, she studied at French private school so that’s why she is fluent in French without even an accent and another amazing thing is that she graduated from Yale and her major was literature which something that you rarely could come across in a Hollywood star. All these qualities made me respect Jodie Foster as a person in addition to the fact that she is not the kind of actress who would kill for attention, no, she prefers to talk in her interviews about her work not her private life.

        Well, she is also a two times academy winner for her role in the 1988 amazing movie “The Accused” and the 1991 astonishing movie “The Silence of the Lambs” which she Plays in it the well known character FBI agent Clarice Starling. she received her first Oscar nomination at the age of 14 for her role in the movie "Taxi Driver" and because of that movie her stalker 'John Hinckley' tried to kill the president of the United States 'Ronald Reagan' in a sick attempt as he described 'to impress Jodie Foster'!!.

        I loved all of Jodie Foster movies that I watched but there are few that I considered my Favorites of her which are 2007 “The Brave One”, 2002 “Panic Room”, 1999 “Anna and the King” and 1997 “Contact”.

كتبت هذه الخاطرة قبل سنة واحببت ان انشرها اخيرا لاشارككم بها

الان ... وليس كما وقت مضى ...

لا اعرف لماذا اشعر بأنني سكنتني الوحدة ...

هل لفقدي قطعة من فؤادي ؟!...

تلك القطعة التي اخذها ما لا نقدر على رده ...

أم بسبب طيف الحب الضائع الذي لم يكتب له أن يكتمل ؟!...

آه يا قلبي المكبل بالجراح والآلام ...

لقد تحملت الكثير ...

ولكن يبقى الامل ... هو الحل الاخير ...

هو اخر ملجأ من الهموم والاسقام ...

حتى ولو كان وهما ...

حتى ولو كان شبحا يتشبث به تائه في صحراء الحياة ...

اين اجده ؟! ... متى يحين موعده ؟!...

عندما يحين موعد النوم وتسكن الحركات ...

عندما اجد نفسي انظر إلى النجوم في سمائها الحالكة وأقول ...

كم انت محظوظة ...

فأنت في عالمك المثالي ...

حيث لا تعب ولا شقاء ولا اشرار ...

فليس هناك سوى السلام الذي تحيطه الاعين الحالمة ...

فلا يحدق بالنجوم سوى الاعين الحالمة ...

The Five Ws

In my second post I will talk about the movie “My Sister’s Keeper”.I will state the Five Ws for this awesome movie.

1.     Who is it about?

The main characters of “My Sister’s Keeper” are

·        The mother “Sara Fitzgerald” who is played by “Cameron Diaz”.

·        The young daughter “Andromeda 'Anna' Fitzgerald” who is played by “Abigail Breslin”.

·        The old daughter “Kate Fitzgerald” who is played by “Sofia Vassilieva”.

2.     What happened (what's the story)?

Anna tries to get medical emancipation from her parents who depends on her to keep her leukemia-stricken sister Kate alive.

3.     Where did it take place?

Long Island.

4.     When did it take place?

The movie is a 2009 release based on a 2004 novel and it take place modern days.

5.     Why did it happen?

At the beginning of the movie they show us that Anna is trying to earn the medical emancipation from her parents because she feels that it’s a kind of child abuse and that she doesn’t mean anything for her parents other than a life guard for her sister. Towards the end we discover that the whole process was Kate’s wish.

6.     How did it happen?

She hires a very famous lawyer to represent her in the court.

Talking about the firsts …

In my first post I will talk about some of the first books that I ever read and my favorite ones.

I wasn’t a big fan of reading, but I became one at the age of 12. The first novel that I read was Treasure Island. Treasure Island is an adventure novel by the author Robert Louis Stevenson. It’s been a long time since I last read it so I really can’t remember who are the main characters or what was the plot ,but I know that it was about pirates, young boy and  buried gold<< too bad that my memory can’t save everything ,but maybe because this is not my favorite genre of  novels. I also remember the famous say in this book was “Fifteen Men On The Dead Man's Chest”<< ah memories :) . 

Gone with the wind is my favorite romance\ drama novel. I think I read it when I was 16 or 17 years old. It’s written by Margaret Mitchell. The main character is Scarlett O'Hara and the whole novel talks about her life and experiences. There is a 4 hours movie based on this book that won 8 academy awards ,but I was never been able to complete watching it … Duh. 

Stolen lives is the first autobiography book that I read. I finished reading this book two weeks ago and I am still in shock. Stolen lives talks about the life of Maleka Ofkeer from Morocco who was the daughter of the general Muhammad Ofkeer. She was adopted by the king Muhammad V and When she became 18 her father was part of a coup d'état attempt on the king Hassan II. As a result, her father was executed and she with her mother, 5 siblings and 2 maids lived in desert jail for 20 years. The book is very touching and moving. It Makes you think 1,000 times before whining about the life that you have because whatever it was it not a jail and torture without a crime or trail.
